FYI

Tense moment in my class yesterday.....Image transfer does NOT work with photo paper!! For my original layout I printed my photos on plain white paper and the transfer worked. I was told by an extremely reliable source that it would work with photo paper as well. Should have tested it prior to my class!! It all worked out well in the end though, we just eliminated that step and ended up with some beautiful layouts!!!

Upcoming Layout Classes

Just a little plug!!!

I have a couple of layout classes coming up this Saturday, January 22, and there are a couple of spots left!

The first one "Fall Fun":

A few techniques will be learned, most significantly will be image transfer. We will be transfering the image from a picture to the cardstock using a gel medium. There will be distressing of course, panpastels, die cutting, glimmer glaze, embossing etc. It should be lots of fun, and yes you will get your hands dirty!!

Time: 10:00am - 12:30
Price: $22.00
~~~~~~~
The second class "You + Me = Happy":
A fun layout..we'll hand cut some chipboard shapes, attach some paper, colour with twinkling H2Os, a bit of distressing, etc.
Time: 1:30pm - 3:30pm
Price: $22.00
BONUS: Take both classes and save $10.00!!
$34.00 for both!!
Happy Family Album
Well I finally finished it!! WooHoo!! So glad Sheila was okay with it being so late!! (Thanks Sheila!)
Here is the picture again of Scrappin' Sheila's January Kit:
And here is my finished project:
So I tweaked it a lot from my last post (nothing was glued down for that picture!!). I cut the flowers down, and moved the tag to the inside of the album so that the word FAMILY was more readable.
The album is a gift for my mom, it was supposed to be for her birthday, then for Christmas, well, now she can have it next month after it is done being on display at the store!!! (Sorry MOM!!) It is filled with pictures of all 6 of my Mom's grandkids. She will love showing this off to her friends!
The inside (very picture heavy!). I started off with my two boys:
Then my brother's two kids:
And my sister's two boys, the oldest of the bunch:
And all the cousin's together:
So there you go! One last picture of the album:
Now on to planning February's kit!! Have a great weekend!!
Christmas Cards!
This was our 2010 Christmas card (sent to 45 of our family & friends!):
Really love the blue & brown combo. I used paper from Fancy Pants and Bazzill cardstock to match, with Prima pearls, embossed the cardstock with a Tim Holtz folder. The sentiment I believe is from Impression Obsession.
And this is one of two matching cards I made for the two amazing ladies who take care of my Ben at the daycare:
I embossed the centre of the card with a Tim Holtz folder, added some stickles to frame the embossed section, the penguin stamp is from Sparkle & Sprinkle and is coloured in with pencil crayons and mineral spirits. REALLY like this one!!!
Family Album
Well, it's not completely finished but it is getting there!! I am thinking the flowers might be a bit big, and the word family is becoming lost, don't know, will work on it a tad more. I really do like all the colours together though. I wasn't sure about mixing both black and brown with the colours, I usually pick one or the other, but I am happy with the results so far!
A close up:
Have a fantastic day!!!
And so far I have this...
Nice mess eh??!! Well I would love to say that my project for Scrappin' Great Deals January Scrapbooking Kit is complete, but I don't lie very well so I can't!! I do have a lot of interesting embellishments made up for the project but the assembly of said project is coming along alot slower than I had anticipated. (Blast you Harry Potter, must my new Wii game be so addictive??)
Here is the actual kit:
Papers from Kaiser, Prima, Bo-bunny and MME, fantastic new title stickers from KI Memories, Prima flowers, Maya Road chipboard frames, stickles, stunning ribbon from Websters and May Arts, buttons, cardstock, pearls, brads and so on!!
So I decided to do a word album and I have the actual album complete as so:
And the embellishments to go along with it, starting with this nifty little tag:
A bunch of handmade flowers:
some hand cut "brads":
and the pictures cropped and mounted on cardstock:
It is definitely a work in progress!! I will post more over the next couple of days, as I am not overly optimistic about how quickly it will come together! In the mean time though, pop over to Carol's blog to see her fantastic creations with the kit. Two amazing layouts and a card!! And I thought my kids were cute, wait until you see hers!!!
SGD's January Scrapbooking Kit
Hello!! I'm back! I have no idea where December went! Christmas was fantastic, and so so busy! I am so not used to having two kids at home, and so not used to being a referee!! The fights! Crazy really. I guess it will be going on for awhile though, they are only 6 and 2!
I have a sneek peak of Scrappin' Great Deals January Scrapbooking Kit. It will be released tomorrow, and I will have my project ready as well.
Happy New Year!!
The Countdown is On!!
Can you believe Christmas Day is just 9 days away??!! How did that happen?? I've been busy making Christmas Cards, they are finally in the mail! Here is one I made for Malcolm's teacher at school:
I really love these reindeer, but now Malcolm wants to know why the reindeer on our lawn don't look like these ones!! I used some Fancy Pants paper, Bazzill cardstock, the stamp is from Stampendous, and is stamped using Frayed Burlap Distress Ink, embossed with clear powder, coloured with pencil crayons.
Have a great evening!!
You + Me = Happy!!
Here is my third layout created from SGD's December Scrapbooking Kit....and I LOVE it!!
Every so often the picture in my head actually materializes in reality, and this is one of those times!
I made my own stocking and presents from chipboard and covered them in patterned paper, bling, ribbon, brads, inked the edges and voila!! It is easily the heaviest layout I have ever made!! And I don't know if it will fit in an album it is that thick!! Oh well!
Close ups: I covered these little Maya Road chipboard dinos in ink then twinkling H2Os.
Have a fantastic day!!
December Kit Release Time!!
"It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!!"
Today is the day Scrappin' Great Deals releases the December Scrapbooking Kit. And here it is:
I have to say I am partial to the kit because I put it together (with Sheila's approval of course!). So many possibilities as always, winter themed, family themed, Christmas, it goes on and on!! A mix of papers from SEI, Fancy Pants, BG, Pink Paislee and Lilybee. Websters Alphas, Bazzill cardstock, CI journal boxes, Kaiser pearls, Pebbles Glitter Dots, Dew drops, the list goes on and on!!
Here are two of my layouts, one more is started and one more is in my head. (My head was overflowing this month, so many ideas!!)
Layout One: I used some twinkling H20's to stamp the background snowflakes, and I painted on some shimmerz to the snowflake punch outs along with a dollop of stickles.
Close up: Added some stardust stickles to the Thickers:
Layout Two: Loved this Pink Paislee paper! It has a built in resist so I just used my foam applicator and rubbed Tim Holtz distress ink all over it! (three shades!!)
Close up: A Pink Paislee Artisan Emblellishment, they come in a creamy colour and you can paint/colour how you like! I used some more twinkling H2Os to colour it up. Love their subtle twinkle!! I used it on the chipboard swirls too.
Stamped some more snowflakes from Tim Holtz's stamp set in a couple of shades of blue distress inks.
Hope you like them!! Make sure to pop over to Sarah's blog to see her outstanding creations!! This is her last month designing with the store kits. She is such an inspiration, a really incredibly talented lady and super nice as well!!
