So I did something a little different this month with
Scrappin' Great Deals July Scrapbooking Kit. I made a word album to showcase two of the most important people in my life....my boys. This kit totally screamed BOYS to me, and the colour palette is one I often use. I love the navy, browns, and greens, toss in some orange and I was in heaven. I LOVE the Dude line by Paper Loft, as well as Basic Grey's Max & Whisker, and the Prima colours fit right in too! The accessories were a perfect match too, Maya Road chipboard gears, diecut gears, Tim Holtz tickets, buttons, twine.....Did I mention I just LOVED this kit....THANKS Sheila!!!
So here is my album, (It's very picture heavy :) !!)

I had to create my own word album, using chipboard. I printed out the letters on my computer, traced onto the chipboard and cut them out, sanded all the edges, and then attached the paper to both sides using Scor-Tape. All the edges, (and my fingers) then got inked up using Java Chalk Ink.
Here are the inside pages:

I positioned the photos so they can be seen through the letter openings. I am totally into distressing at the moment so a lot of the paper was crumpled up and inked, the tickets were inked up, and so on! One of the sheets of the Dude paper had these great gears that I cut out and used with the buttons as embellishments.

I played with my glue gun and made these little glue splats and dots, I used glitter glue sticks and my non-stick craft sheet. The splats peeled right off the sheet and I glued them onto my letters. It was a technique I read about in an issue of Canadian Scrapbooker and have been itching to try it out!

I used my new EK Success dinosaur punch....(Malcolm loves all things reptilian, Ben better too because he is going to inherit all the toys as he gets older!!)

I painted the chipboard gears with Smooch Ink, the colour is Pumpkin. Great medium, drys really fast and comes with its own brush! Really like it!

My son's are a blessing, I am so thankful for them.

The only items I used that weren't included in the kits were the hot glue embellishments I made, orange embroidery cotton and green yarn. I also used more of my own chipboard gears.
I hope you liked my work! Make sure you check out both
Sarah's and
April's blogs to see their creations!! Enjoy your day!!!
