Fly High!!

Awesome new stamps at Scrappin' Great Deals from The Cat's Pajamas!! Really cute little bunnies, but it was the little penguin holding a kite titled "Up Up & Away" that caught my eye. My youngest moved up to the preschool room at his daycare, leaving the "Penguin" room behind.  A couple of thank you cards were in order for his two incredible educators and  I thought the sentiment "Up, Up & Away, Let's Take Off Fly High" was perfect because that is exactly what they let him do!

I coloured up the little guy using my Derwent pencil crayons and Odourless Mineral Spirits, cut it out and pop dotted it to the designer paper. I used some of the 6x6 MME Paper - Fly a Kite from the Lime Twist Collection.  Fit Perfectly!!  A few little Pebble Candy Dots in the corner, and voila!! You can check out the other card (it is almost identical!) here on the SGD blog!!

Thanks for looking!  Have a great day!!

Krafty Peaks with Mattie!!

It is Release Day Number Three for Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps !!  And today they are featuring fabulous new stamps by Cheryl Alger!  They are so incredibly cute!!  Kimmie asked me to be a guest again with this release (thank you!) and I worked with Back to School Mattie, incorporating the image into a layout.  Instead of Back to School though, given my oldest' thrill at being DONE school for the summer, I did a SCHOOL IS OUT!!! layout.

Have a look at this:

I used both the Elementary and 100 Days of Summer lines of papers from Simple Stories, as well as the alphas, a little vintage photo ink around some edges, Autumn leaves buttons, pretty simple layout for me!!  I copied and shrunk Malcolm's last sheet of homework and included it on the layout.

Here is a close up of Mattie, coloured with my Derwent pencil crayons and odorless mineral spirits:

I loved this stamp so much that....sit down....I made a card!!  I used the same Simple Stories patterned paper and some Cosmo Cricket tiny type alphas for a perfect thank you card:

Check out the Kraftin' Kimmie blog for the full list of Krafty Girls participating in today's release!!  Thanks for looking and have a Krafty Good Day!!

Stamped with a recent release from Kraftin' Kimmie, Stripes the Zebra, embossed, then shaded with some distress ink. Embossed the Echo Park paper with my Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder, inked the edges, added some Cosmo Cricket ribbon, all on some Black Bazzill paper. Done!!

Enjoy your day!! Fabulous warm weather!!

Christmas Cards!

This was our 2010 Christmas card (sent to 45 of our family & friends!):

Really love the blue & brown combo. I used paper from Fancy Pants and Bazzill cardstock to match, with Prima pearls, embossed the cardstock with a Tim Holtz folder. The sentiment I believe is from Impression Obsession.

And this is one of two matching cards I made for the two amazing ladies who take care of my Ben at the daycare:

I embossed the centre of the card with a Tim Holtz folder, added some stickles to frame the embossed section, the penguin stamp is from Sparkle & Sprinkle and is coloured in with pencil crayons and mineral spirits. REALLY like this one!!!

The Countdown is On!!

Can you believe Christmas Day is just 9 days away??!! How did that happen?? I've been busy making Christmas Cards, they are finally in the mail! Here is one I made for Malcolm's teacher at school:

I really love these reindeer, but now Malcolm wants to know why the reindeer on our lawn don't look like these ones!! I used some Fancy Pants paper, Bazzill cardstock, the stamp is from Stampendous, and is stamped using Frayed Burlap Distress Ink, embossed with clear powder, coloured with pencil crayons.

Have a great evening!!

Multiple Card Week...

September is a super busy month, a TON of birthdays, (including mine :) !!), our anniversary, school starting, vacation..where to find time to create the oodles of cards I need to make!!! I have been busy colouring the last couple of nights, one with my good friend Angie who is always ready to colour! I had a couple thank you cards to make for my boys' daycare providers, Ben is moving up to the next level (AAAHH, my baby!), and Malcolm is leaving completely as he starts Grade 1. I didn't get a picture of Ben's thank you card, it was really sweet too. Oh well, can't share them all!

But here is the card Malcolm will be giving to the great ladies that have taught him so much over the last couple of years:
Surprise, surprise... orange and dinosaurs....I know, no surprise really!!! I embossed the Greeting Farm image with black ink and clear powder, than coloured it with chalk and distress inks. And I love my EK Success dinosaur punch.

Next up is my niece's 10th birthday card. I popped it in the mail this morning, hopefully it makes it to Winnipeg in time!!
Love this High Hopes stamp! I coloured her in with my pencil crayons and mineral spirits. There is both Creative Imaginations paper and Basic Grey, some Kaiser pearls, Prima flowers, and a Martha Stewart edger punch.
A bit hard to see but I also added a bunch of sparkle using my clear star gel pen. My niece loves horses, she has a couple as well as a couple miniature ponies. I really wish they all lived closer!! Happy Birthday!!!

I have lots more to create!! FIL, SIL, my 2 boys, my anniversary, birthday invitations, and still manage to put together some layouts for SGD!!! Wow,what am I doing at work? Oh yeah, paying for my hobby!!

Have a splendid day!!

Sweet Stampavie!

Really love this stamp "Sweet Dreams" by Stampavie, found at SGD. So so sweet. I coloured her a while ago with pencil crayons and mineral spirits (my first attempt!). Finally made her into a card! I used my script embossing folder by Cuttlebug with some pale pink vellum for the background.

Happy Birthday Big Sis!!

It was my sister's birthday yesterday, and we are going out for a couple cocktails this evening to celebrate...just the two of us! I love this stamp from Kraftin' Kimmie, I embossed the image with holographic embossing powder. My sister likes shiny things!! I found in my hoard a pack of glittery black and white alphabet paper that worked well with the simple image, and mounted it all on black Bazzill cardstock.

Hopefully Kathy doesn't check my blog today! She'll spoil my surprise!! I made a reference inside about bottling up the fountain of youth! Where do the years go??!!

Make Today a Play Day!

Wouldn't it be nice if EVERY day was a play day??!! My boys would love it, well actually for them right now, every day pretty much IS a play day!!

I coloured up this image a while back and just recently turned it into a card. It is up on display at Scrappin' Great Deals. The image is a High Hopes stamp, coloured with my pencil crayons and mineral spirits. The sentiment is from Daisy Bucket. Some Fancy Pants and LYB (I think!) paper, Bazzill cardstock, and Making Memory Solid Eyelets, and brads.

Have yourself a play day too!!!

Last Day of School

For my son's school it really is the last day. Our beloved little school is being closed forever. It will be a bit of a tear jerker when I go to pick up Malcolm shortly. His incredible SK teacher is also retiring. I can not say enough good things about this amazing women. Where she gets her enthusiasm or her energy I don't know but I wish I could bottle it some days!! She has given Malcolm a terrific start to his schooling, I am so very thankful! Here is the card I made for her, to help her remember (not that she'll need it) Malcolm and his dinosaurs.

The little dino guy is part of a set called O' Happy Day from the Greeting Farm and it is so perfect for my paleontologist in training! I tore up some brown cardstock for the "rocks", stamped some trees from a C.C. Designs dino set, added the sentiment with some jute twine and tada! (I coloured with my pencil crayons!)

Have a great day!! Enjoy the sunshine and lack of humidity!! My hair is loving it today!

The Pirate Princess....

Our niece turned 3 last week..HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Anna is just so fiesty and sassy, she lights a room up! I coloured up the Strawberry Pirate from Kraftin' Kimmie's stamp line because the image reminds me of Anna; only I called it the Pirate Princess because that is what Anna declared herself to be one day last winter.

Lets see..stamped on Neenah with Memento ink, coloured with my Derwent pencil crayons, blended with mineral spirits, used some Bo-Bunny Love Bandit paper, Bazzill cardstock, Imaginese flowers, unknown pink pearls, chipboard number coloured with pink glittery paint.

Happy Father's Day!!

I hope you all had a wonderful Father's Day! For the first time in months, maybe even years, our kids slept in until 8:00am. This really NEVER happens!! And Ben didn't get up in the night either!! So we had a great start to the day!

A couple of cards to share celebrating Father's Day! First my hubby's card, nice and simple. He has a thing for Zebras.

I stamped a Zebra image (from Maya Road..picked up at the last SGD garage sale, thanks Angie!). I stamped it using dark brown chalk ink, on paper from Creative Memories, cut it out in a nice oval, mounted it with Java Bazzill cardstock, pop dotted it to the same pp, mounted the whole thing on Raven Bazzill cardstock. I stamped the sentiment on the same pp, attached it to a piece of chipboard, put on some ribbon and all done!!

Now my FIL's card. I decided to see if I could colour on kraft cardstock with my pencil crayons and still be able to use the mineral spirits to blend. And you can! I used the Father's Day stamp from Popcorn Bear, so cute! I kept the colours simple, lots of brown tones to go with the kraft paper, nice and masculine.

I added some buttons, tied on some twine, stamped the sentiment on a tag, and mounted it all on some Bazzill cardstock.

Have a great day!

Happy Belated Birthday!!

I did not forget my SIL's birthday, I was just delinquent in getting her present and card to her. Here is her card, (which I didn't post earlier because I didn't want her to see it!!):

I used a cute VW image from Stampavie. I knew as soon as I saw the stamp that I had to use it for her birthday card. I used my new favourite colouring technique: pencil crayon and mineral spirits. Really loving it!! I mounted the image on some Bazill cardstock, used some ribbon from Michaels, some little brads; I embossed the cardstock as well.

Here is a close up of the coloured image:

Enjoy your weekend!!

Thinking of You

So this card was intended to be a cheerfully optimistic thinking of you card for a friend, whose dad is extremely ill. Sending good thoughts, hugs and kisses and all that. Upon posting the image, it perhaps could be interpreted as a valentine's card!

I used a Whiff of Joy stamp (big surprise there!), coloured with chalk ink and pencil crayons, the paper is Prima, cardstock is Bazzill, the sentiment is from CC Designs, and some Kaiser Craft pearls. And a new Martha Stewart border punch!

Send good thoughts to my friend please, she really needs it. :)

Welcome Baby Girls!!

Welcome to the world little girls! A friend of mine had twin girls a month or so ago and I finally got around to making her a card. I am such a rotten friend. Her son is in my son's SK class and will be over for a play date this afternoon so I got my butt in gear last night and made a card. I used my favourite Whiff of Joy stamp and some swirly stamps, stamped in unknown gold ink and embossed the images with clear embossing powder. The paper is from the Road Show line from Fancy Pants. (Fast becoming my favourite Paper Co.) I coloured the image with pencil crayons, highlighted with an opaque white pen, added some pearls, used my one and only Martha Stewart border punch and voila!

Inside the card, a sentiment from the same paper line:

Next I need to work on still life photo taking! Have a fabulous day!!

Stickers...Fast and Fun

When you are short on time, stickers can save the day!! A quick card I whipped up for my husband's birthday a couple months back. (He has a thing for zebras) I think it's cute, he liked it..no great masterpiece but when you don't have time, you don't have time!!

Happy Mother's Day!!

I spent a wonderful day just hanging out with my two boys! A little tickle wrestling, lots of laughter....it was a good day. Cooked dinner for both my mom, my in-laws and my grandma. All in all a happy mother's day! I made identical cards for both moms:

You know I love the sepia tones!! I used some paper from the Cambridge line of SWR, some Paper Loft, from the Grandma's house line, Java cardstock, Prima flowers, dew drops, Martha Stewart punch. Everything can be found at Scrappin' Great Deals!!

I hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day too!!
